It will be 9 years on 3/16/20 and not a day goes by without thinking and remembering you brother.
If I could have it back
All the time that we wasted
I'd only waste it again
If I could have it back
You know I would love to waste it again
Waste it again and again and again
We Love You

Everyday
Yesterday marked 8 years since my little brother left. I must say that there is not a day that goes by where I don’t find myself thinking and remembering times we shared. There are so many of them and for that I am lucky we were close, thick as thieves. Every March some of us grow a beard and as a tribute to Justin and his beard games he used to play, he would shave different designs into the beard and push the envelope of beard fashion. What’s not to celebrate? I have included some pictures that I like to look at to remind me of him and 1 picture of my 2019 March beard attempt so far.
You know I would love to waste it again waste it again and again and again...

Another day without my brother
On the 4th of July Justin and I used to go crazy. As kids we would sneak fire crackers and bottle rockets and set them off like we were explosion experts. We loved to blow things up and we tried to do that as much as we could and it seemed so great that there was actually a day set aside to celebrate blowing things up.
As adults we kept the tradition alive we had great means which meant bigger and more explosions. Our firework shows became an event that you did not want to miss. I remember 1 year we had bought enough fireworks to blow up a small island. Justin and I spent the day on the 4th building launchers and contraptions to aid us in the show we would have in the evening. Some of my best memories are just chilling with my brother while we made these contraptions. We laughed and theorized about life and remembered times we had had. Mostly though we laughed.
I miss laughing with my brother.

The devil made me do it!
Sitting at home 2 days before Thanksgiving 11/24/2015 and thinking about my brother, the one who is gone. I suppose there are a lot of things to be thankful for and to discuss regarding my brother Justin. However I am not feeling in that kind of mood. I just miss him and our conversations, laughs, shared moments and glances. While I am thankful to have these things and to have experienced them with him but I find no thankfulness or gratitude towards his absence. He is missed and he is often thought about. I miss you Justin.
I used to say "the devil made me do it" as a child when caught being mischievous. These occasions often included Justin as an accomplice.
The devil made me do it.

Today I have been thinking about you brother and realizing how the weight of mourning your loss has been heavy and more difficult than I could have imagined. You are missed and remembered every single day by not only myself but lots of people have you on their minds.
This year we did another beard of remembrance in your honor. We started growing on the anniversary of your death, March 16th and grow for at least 1 month. Here is what I have at 28 days.

4 years
On 3/16/15 We just crossed the 4 year mark of Justin's death and I would have to say this has been the most difficult year so far. I miss you brother and I am slowly realizing that you are not coming back.

3 years gone
On 3/16/2014 it marked 3 years since Justin died. We still miss him and think about him everyday. Your children are doing well and Stephanie is awesome and taking care of the kids just as you would have if you were still here. Kellen called me the other day and asked me if you and I ever caught a Leprechaun. I of course told him about the time we did catch one.

A new Chapter ….
Congratulations are in order for Stephanie. She was married this weekend to a a widower who lost his spouse. He has 5 children and Stephanie has 4 so together they have 9 kids. It sounds like a party. The wedding was great and emotions ran high.
I really miss you Justin.

Justin in the movie Proof.
Justin was an extra in the movie Proof and I finally tracked it down and made a clip for your viewing pleasure. One clip shows the scene as it appears in the actual movie and the other clip is slowed down to better appreciate the true hero of the film. Justin Marcucci.

Legacy of Booth Alumnus Carries across Expansive Network
Justin Marcucci, ’05 and his wife Stephanie—who previously served as associate director, marketing and communications for the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship—were long-time members of the Booth community and great supporters of the school.
This past spring, a number of websites, including a memorial fund, were established to remember Justin, who passed away unexpectedly due to a rare case of idiopathic hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
“He definitely felt that many of his achievements came from the knowledge he gained while at Chicago Booth and from the network of alumni he got to know there,” said Jared Marcucci, Justin’s brother.
As a student, Justin studied entrepreneurship and finance. He also competed in the New Venture Challenge, placing third in the business case competition along with cofounders Peter Shannon, ’05; Jon Mano, ’05; and Oliver Banz, ’05, for Crazy Waters, Inc.
In his most recent role, post-graduation, Marcucci worked for eBay in San Jose, Calif., as general manager for Fashion Vault, a component of eBay Marketplaces that focuses on clothing, shoes, and accessories. According to his brother, Marcucci’s career was closely linked to his time at Booth.
“Justin knew he wanted to work in Silicon Valley in a start-up business in the tech industry,” he said. “His MBA from Booth catapulted his career toward his life goals in business. Justin seemed to always be advocating for the university and felt very fortunate to have had the opportunity to attend Chicago Booth.”
In fact, it was Justin’s expansive professional and alumni network—bolstered by his time at Booth—that first motivated Jared to create the numerous websites in his brother’s honor. Hoping to preserve memories for Justin’s family, friends, and colleagues around the globe—including numerous contacts from his time working in London and Prague—Jared created an archive of photos, videos, and a blog that raises awareness about the medical condition that led to Justin’s tragic death.
“I thought that the many people who knew and loved Justin would benefit from having a website that they could visit for updates and to learn more about what had happened,” he explained. The blog itself received more than 10,000 hits in the first few weeks and continues to draw increasing numbers of visitors.
An educational fund for Marcucci’s children—three sons, Grant, Kellen, and Lennox; and daughter, Johnna, who was born in August—has been created by his colleagues at eBay and is currently linked to the numerous websites.

Thanksgiving
I remember all the times we have had fun over the different holidays! I am missing you and your laugh and smile and how your eyes turn to 1/4 moons when you laugh. No one laughs at my jokes like you did brother.
There is not a day that has gone by since you died that I have not thought about you and the good times we had.
Here is a Deathcab song that make me think of you.
You may tire of me as our December sun is setting because I'm not who I used to be
No longer easy on the eyes but these wrinkles masterfully disguise
The youthful boy below who turned your way and saw
Something he was not looking for: both a beginning and an end
But now he lives inside someone he does not recognize
When he catches his reflection on accident
On the back of a motor bike
With your arms outstretched trying to take flight
Leaving everything behind
But even at our swiftest speed we couldn't break from the concrete
In the city where we still reside.
And I have learned that even landlocked lovers yearn for the sea like navy men
Cause now we say goodnight from our own separate sides
Like brothers on a hotel bed
Like brothers on a hotel bed
Like brothers on a hotel bed
Like brothers on a hotel bed
You may tire of me
As our December sun is setting
Because I'm not who I used to be
There is not a day that has gone by since you died that I have not thought about you and the good times we had.
